• Gender Identity: The option to register self-perceived gender identity is incorporated, allowing individuals to choose the “non-binary” (NB) option.
• Cultural Self-Identification: In compliance with official resolution, a field is added to declare belonging to an Indigenous or Afro-Mexican community.
• Optimized QR Codes: The new high-density QR codes contain more information, enabling the encrypted verification of complete address data.

Despite these important inclusions and a change in the background design, the technical structure remains firm: “the location of the information will not move.” The INE’s objective is for this change to be “as transparent as possible” so institutions can continue verifying the ID card without disruptions.
